Welcome to PCS

PCS is the sixth largest trade union in the UK with nearly 325,000 members and organises membership in the civil service throughout the United Kingdom  - government departments and agencies, non-department public bodies, devolved government and areas of the civil service that have been privatised.

Our members undertake a variety of essential roles including information technology, catering, administration, security and management in areas such as the coastguards, air traffic control, customs, benefits centres and tax offices. We also represent retired members. 

PCS's goal is to improve the working lives of our members. This means campaigning and negotiating with employers to improve terms & conditions such as pay, promotion, working hours and holidays.

Union members are at the heart of every decision PCS makes and every action we take. This means that  PCS members campaign on the issues that they decide are important. From your local workplace to international issues, union campaigns are your way of influencing your manager, your employer, the government or international decision makers. Your PCS membership gives you the ability to stand up and be counted.
